Virtual Reality

Virtual realities are technically interactive 3D animations.

Examples of applications include:

  • Control of airplanes and drones
  • Operation of complex machines (robots)
  • Operation of vehicles

Often, the goal is to represent reality. In contrast to augmented reality (AR), virtual realities do not interact with the external reality.

Virtual realities can be presented immersively (e.g., with a headset). As a user, you are largely disconnected from the environment. In non- or semi-immersive presentations (e.g., on a monitor), the physical environment is still perceivable.ed, while semi- and non-immersive realities still retain a visible frame.
